Knowing the Times is a brief publication offered about once a month in a bulletin-insert format. Its purpose is to inform Christians of some religious and cultural current events that are significant developments, threats, or weaknesses that affect the Christian church.

The initial motivation for publishing Knowing the Times was that Bob Jones University stopped publishing their similar "What in the World" insert in May 2010. At the time, they wrote, "while readers are appreciative of the publication, it is not as useful to them as it was before the proliferation of information on the Internet." Herein lies a problem—there is so much information, it is hard to sort through it all, or even find it if you have access to the Internet. For those without Internet access it is even tougher. Occasional short snippets can be helpful to keep us on top of things and, in the words of the BJU publication, "be wise as serpents and harmless as doves."

The publication is free for personal or church use as long as it is not modified. We usually print the file in two-sided, flip-on-short-edge mode. Since the contents appear twice in the document, if you need 100 copies, print 50 and cut them in half.
