372: Evangelism & Visitation

Description:

This course will focus on the theology and practical use of the gospel in daily Christian living.

Objectives:

In this course the student will:

1.       Gain a fuller understanding of the gospel message and its purpose.

2.       Memorize selected Scriptures necessary for a ready defense of the gospel.

3.       Interact with other students in practical evangelism training.

4.       Prepare a written testimony of your salvation experience.

5.       Participate in the work of evangelism through visitation, outreach and other hands-on ministry opportunities.

6.       Write a book review of Pickering's The Theology of Evangelism

Requirements:

1. Attendance
Students should plan on attending all sessions for this course.

2. Scripture Memory
Memorize the selected Scriptures in accord with the schedule below.

3. Personal Testimony
Prepare a brief written testimony of your salvation experience. Include any pertinent Scriptures that were influential in your decision to accept Christ as your Savior. For examples, see the church website under Bible Resources > Tracts & Testimonies. Due February 27.

4. Book Review
All students should read Pickering's Theology of Evangelism and write a 1-2 page critique of the book by the assigned date. The critique should not simply summarize or restate what the author has written. Rather, the critique should state the central premise of the book and evaluate whether or not the author was successful in supporting that premise. Be prepared to discuss your paper with other students on the date the critique is due. Due May 8.
