Dear Pastor or Parent,

We would like to offer you assistance for your young people who attend or will attend the colleges or universities in the Ann Arbor area (University of Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Washtenaw Community, Concordia, and others). Our county is said to have the highest per capita concentration of college students in the nation. So, outreach possibilities are endless; but there are also many pitfalls for college students and finding a sound Bible-teaching ministry can be a challenge for them. We hope this letter will help you in your efforts to see your students grow in the Lord.

Rev. Matthew A. Postiff has been Pastor of Fellowship Bible Church since May 2006. Pastor Matt has a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan in Computer Engineering and an M.Div. from Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary. Matt’s wife Naomi has a Bachelor’s degree from University of Michigan in vocal performance. She served for four years as a “summer missionary” for RBM Ministries. Matt and Naomi were married in 2003. They have two small sons.

Assisting us this year in the campus and singles ministry is a team of folks from the church. The team includes Andy and Sarah Bennett, Ben Carnes, Dr. David Yanga, and Chris Zent. Each has particular responsibilities with the campus fellowship, including teaching, organization of activities, and contacting new students.

The following college ministries we collectively call Campus Bible Fellowship:

  • Transportation to all church activities from the University of Michigan campuses in Ann Arbor, Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, and Concordia University.
  • A Tuesday evening Bible study on campus that will focus this fall on the meaning of the gospel.
  • Monthly hospitality that provides a Sunday noon meal on the first Sunday of each month.
  • A family hospitality program that places every college student in a church family’s home for Sunday dinner once a  month.
  • A special Sunday School taught by Andy Bennett and Dr. David Yanga. We will initially cover the doctrines of inspiration, inerrancy, and hermeneutics.
  • Full church membership or student membership available to all college students.
  • Opportunities to serve in the Awana, Sunday school, and youth ministry.
  • A visitation ministry in which our students visit our sick and shut-ins.
  • Numerous opportunities to minister in music (voice, instrumental).
  • Seminars presented by other pastors and missionaries.
  • Christmas Bible Conference the first weekend in December, a time of concentrated Bible teaching on a selected topic by an outside speaker.
  • Evangelistic outreaches at UM, EMU, and WCC.

Feel free to share this information with your Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti-bound college students—please give them a copy of this letter. You can find out more by browsing our website, emailing, or calling. Feel free to call Pastor Lee Buer as a reference. He can be reached at leebuer@sbcglobal.net or 1-269-342-9879.

Also, if it is appropriate, please send us the contact information (address, phone, e-mail, etc.)  for any prospective individuals, and we will send them a letter offering personalized help and guidance, including tours of the area if they will be new to our locale.

We would be encouraged to hear from you, and hope to see your young men and women in September!

Sincerely in Christ,

Pastor Matthew Postiff
